Meaning is limited by the tools we have available- G Wall
]
On our production day we learnt about;
Focus Soft- when the object is a little "blurry" and softer than the
object more in focus (used normally in the background)
Sharp- when the image is clear and so draws the audience to the sharper/clearer image
Zoom- to make the image of something or someone appear much larger and nearer, or much smaller and further away
Setup- The way something is organised, planned or arranged
Match On Action (Continuity) Is when someone has been filmed a multiple of times making sure that everything is the same and looks like it has been done in one shot.
All these techniques are used to create the "meaning" and shows representation.
We learnt how to put in order still shots and looked at the lighting and picture to help us choose the still that fits best. We found this difficult at first because we hadn’t seen the film before but when we had a look at the still some answers were obvious than others. In the end we did very well and only got one of the still in the wrong place.
The Creative Process 20sec Panic Film
Thinking about creative decisions and inspirations.
When we first got told that we were going to make a 20 second Panic film, we didnt really know quite what to think and how to plan it. After a while we thought about what genre "panic" would come under we instantly thought of Horror and Rom-Com .
We then went more for the Horror side and looked at the lighting and what of sort lighting would be represented to create the emotion of panic. We thought that it should be quite dark so thast the audience also can feel what the actors/actresses feel too and that they can connect with them.
Then we started thinking about different horror movies that this was like and we came to look at the aspects of Paranormal Activity and the techniques they use to show panic in their films. this helped us a lot as we had a sort of guide to help us.
We decided it was time to go and shoot our 20 second panic film and took on board what we had learnt in lessons about camera shots

What is Creativity?
Can you define it?.. harder than you think right?
I found it difficult too. Its not as easy as you think, when we were asked to define it, we struggled and started to second guess ourselves. We then worked in groups and wrote down key words we think relate to "creativity" as a group we came up with these words
- unique
- imaginative
- affected by things around you e.g society
- different
- affected by personality
- environment - nurture
- the way in which you think
- just art and graphics?
- doesn't have to be original
- the process
- the end product
- personality
- express yourself
- the way YOU want
- style
My definition:
Creativity is the process in which you go through to make a personal opinion that can be inspired by society or the environment to come up with your final product.
I think that I am quite creative although my ideas and the process I go through may take a lot of time. I like being creative because to me being creative is being different and taking something and making it better. Creativity can be expressed and influenced by different types of material e.g. film, literature, fashion etc..
I think media has a massive influence on creativity it allows you to express yourself and it shows others how you think and your thought process throughout. Media is a variety of mediums ranging from photography to film or social networking to script writing. It allows you to have your own style and twist on things and for me it is one of the best subjects to do because media is everywhere and is becoming more important and has a huge amount of impact in peoples perception and influences in their everyday lives.
Why Media?
One of the main reasons I chose media is because I think
media is a fast developing subject and that it has a big effect on our everyday
lives and is developing very quickly. I think media is a creative subject and their
media covers a wide range of skills. I think media will be a fun subject to
study as its different and looks/sounds enjoyable. Media studies seems to be quite an uncommon
subject which I find hard to believe as its one of the biggest and fast growing
things around the world. It will be interesting to learn the effects it has on
us and how much we rely on media in our everyday lives and also the different types
of media there are
