Romantic Comedy

Editing

After we finished our recording we uploaded all of our footage onto the Mac and started editing. But before we used Final Cut Pro we did some research about how to use it and and our group looked at the Interface. We found that the Interface was made up of 4 bits. The Browser, the Viewer, The Canvas and The Timeline. We then found out what each of these do and this helped us to understand what to do when starting to edit. The editing process wasen't as bad as we thought it would be, it was easy to get the hang of it once we knew what to do. However there were a few challenges along the way. Our biggest challenge was too figure out how to edit our film to for our genre of Rom-Com. We then focused more on match on action. We used a dissolving transition to fit 2 different scenes together, this worked really well as it stopped the audience from noticing continuity. We also made a blackout shot before Bex sits down as this showed that time had passed.

Creative Process; Every group got the same script, we had to use this script to fit into our genre. My groups genre was Romantic Comedy (Rom-Com) my group didn’t like this as we had already thought of our own script. We soon realised that this happens in the film industry and you may not always be heard and that depending on your role you have to make sure you are doing your job and doing what you've been told to do. We then though about how we can convert this script to become a Rom-com and then also looked to see if we were able to include any of our original ideas into it. After we spoke we then started to story board. This is important to do as when it comes to filming we know exactly what to do and also when editing we can make sure all of the footage is out into order and makes sense.

Filming; We started to shoot the Rom Com and started off with the 2 person conversation secene. We decided to choose this scene because it wasen't too difficult to film as it was just leaving the camera on the tripod and it wasent alot of work to do. We filmed the same scene multiple times as we wanted to get the reverse shot and made sure we got the right angles even if we didn't agree, we shot it both ways so when it came to editing the piece of film we could see which looked best and worked in favour of our storyline. We then went on to shoot other scenes we thought was best for instance we decided to shoot the outside scene when it was raining as the script said that it needed to be raining at the time, so we decided what to shoot according to the weather.
