Creating a Genre

Creating a Genre

Our group got given the genre of a Romantic Comedy (Rom-Com) we were really excited to get this genre and decided to some reseach about the sterotypical conventions of a Rom-Com we found that
Main Characters in a Rom-Com are

Main Guy
The Girl Next Door
The Cheerleader/Main girl
 The Bestfriend
 Geek

We decided to use the 'The Main Guy' and "The Girl Next Door/Geek" for our film as these to charaters normally end up together at the end.

 Our Story Board

Representing The Main Guy
  • Blazer
  • Trousers
  • Shirt
  • Trainers (comedy)

We wanted to represent this character to come across as a guy who may be rebelious and may not have experience in the working world.

The Girl Next Door/Geek
  • Skirt
  • Glasses
  • Shirt
  • Blazer
We wanted to represent this character to come across as a timid/shy girl and that doesent reallt take notice of the main guy.. yet

We have created our genre by using the typical convensions of the the sterotypical "geeky girl" and the "popular slick looking boy" we used  non- diegetic sound and used a pop love song "She Drives Me Crazy" as it is a sterotypical love song to have in a Rom-Com and the first time the "boy meets girl" is very important. We used a range of shots for our task including
  • Close Ups
  • 2 Way Shot
  • Over The Shoulder
  • Point Of View Shot
  • Wide Shot
  •
