SHOOTING AND EDITING JOURNAL
Day 1 - Shooting:
- Today we stayed at Georgia's dads house and filmed the scene of the little girl getting read a fairytale book. The filming went very well as we used a range of angles that really made an affect. Also the lighting we used and the room we filmed it in really brought together the image we wanted to potray to our audience,
- We planned to film today but it ended up that the weather wasen't what we wanted so we decided still to practise and still plan exsactly how and what we were going to do. We came to the conclusion that the representation of our "hero" was all wrong and changed this immedietly ready for the next time we would shoot
- Earlier today we filmed our cene wirth the "hero" and the card (Mcguffin) in Maidenhead highstreet. We tried to film in places where there were alot of people to make it as natural as possible but alos near shops so that when our audience are to watch it they know that we chose a highstreet to film.
- Today we inported all of our film and put it all into Final Cut Pro we edited the first scene with the little girl and her dad, we were really happy with what we ahd done and altogether tht scence looked great! However when we came to look over the shots from the second scene with our hero and the mcguffin we wern't quiter sure if we were happy with it and if we had a wide enough range of shots and that we would have to re-shoot.
- Today we decided to re-shoot the scene and took alot more shots at differnt angles and also in different places of the highstreet
- Today we edited the scene we had re-shot, we were alot happier with the shots we filmed and used simple techniques such as slowing the card down to give a totally diferent affect and meaning to the film also we imported our music wich also added to the affect of a dark fairtale.
- After school Bex and I stayed after school to add the finishing tocuhes onto our film such as titles.
NCS
I voulenteered for the National Citizen Service where we then made our own social action film, this helped us a lot when filming our main task
We had to choose a film based on a social issue and our group decided to base our film on phone addiction

RESEARCH
PROPS
The props we have used:
- Playing card- McGuffin
- Fairy-tale book
- Teddy Bear
- Everything in Olivia's bedroom including- bed, netting over bed, bedside table, lamp etc.
Card
Fairytale book
Teddy bear
ACTOR
Actors:
- My Little Sister Olivia- as main character 'Olivia'
- My Dad- as character Olivia's father
- as the 'hero'
We decided to use my little sister Olivia as the main character because she is the exact age that we wanted the character to be. This was very useful because her room is a stereotypical little girls room, exactly what we needed.
My Dad was the actor for the character of Olivia's father, this was useful using Olivia's actual Dad because then she was morecomfortable when saying her lines and acting. This then got us better results in her performance and for our opening.
LIGHTING
For lighting and colour research we were taking photos to see what the different techniques would be:
Here we used the pink shade over the light to see what sort of effect we liked, we preferred this to the yellow shade below.
The picture below was natural light which we used as we felt it looked better than the other shades.
Here we used the pink light shade but preferred the natural light below.
This picture was with the bright white light without a shade above, we didn't like this much because it was too bright.
LOCATION
This is a shot of the house we used in the film and also is a pann in our opening shot
this is the bedroom we used to shoot part of our film, as you can see we made sure we got across to the audinence the sterotypical little girly "princess" room
We chose the highstreet because we wanted to to shoot where there were a lot of people and make it as natural as possible
COSTUME
- When thinking about costumes we looked at the sterotypical girly princess and so for Olivia we asked her to wear pink pj's (as it was a night-time scene)
- When deciding what Oliva's dad should wear we didn't really want him to wear anything in particular as we wanted him to be as comftable and relaxed as possible. We asked him what he would wear normally wear on a day to day basis when he was relaxing at home for instance and he told us that he normally wears a tshirt and jeans. So we decided that a t-shirt and jeans would work with his character
- For the hero character we wanted Harry to wear something smartso he wore a shirt and tie, trousers and shoes
