Voiceover tells us who the main character is and sets the story.

Establishing shot/wide angle of House where the story will take place.

When I was little my Dad used to read me fairy-tale books before bed... that’s where my dreams in life have come from

2.INT. LITTLE GIRL’S BEDROOM- AROUND 7PM
First shot of Fairy-tale book...

OLIVIA

Talks to her Dad *voiceover of fairy-tale book*

Daddy can you read me my fairy-tale book before bed?

DAD

*voiceover fairy-tale book*
Of course I will darling

NEXT SHOT
Olivia picks up the book and a playing card falls quickly onto the floor. (McGuffin)

NEXT SHOT
Excitedly she jumps into bed next to her Dad and gets comfortable for a story.

Dad looks at the fairytale book she has chosen
Oh! This book was your Nanny’s, she said it has special secrets inside...
Opens the book and starts to read the first page
